Shepherds Outreach Network is a 501c3 charitable organization dedicated to bringing health care and humanitarian aid to those in need, beginning in northern India.
What we do:
SON recruits volunteers, both medical and non-medically trained personnel, to conduct medical clinics in the Ladakh area of northern India. We go to remote villages and nomadic settlements with little or no health care. SON is also working in Tel Aviv, Israel, and the West Bank to establish a new children's hospital and pediatric clinics.
Where we have been:
SON has worked primarily in a region of India called the Ladakh, a spectacularly beautiful, mountainous, remote, and medically underserved area in the Himalayas.
Where we are going:
Currently, SON's goal for India is to have medical teams working in the Ladakh area throughout the warmer summer months. Each team travels for approximately two weeks and requires both medical and non-medical members. In Israel, SON will continue working with local officials to construct new pediatric hospital and clinic facilities.
How you can join us:
Each year, SON sponsors, trains, and equips teams to travel to Ladakh and direct medical clinics. Medical professionals, especially those with experience in general practice and pediatrics, are the core of the medical team. Other volunteers are needed to assist in many vital aspects of the clinics. Experienced trekking guides and physicians lead each team. SON also welcomes your financial contributions. Shepherd's Outreach Network needs monetary help to purchase medications and medical equipment and to ship these supplies to India.
